On 7 March 2014, Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Department will present the second triannual Contemporary Curated auction, the editorialized version of the mid-season sales of Contemporary Art. Four tastemakers from the world of business, fashion, and curating haveselected the works that inspire them most, and shared why.

Their selections cut across arange of contemporary genres and price points, from Abstract Expressionism and Pop tominimalism and cutting-edge Contemporary Art. The sale will also highlight works by GlennBrown, Joan Mitchell, Sigmar Polke, Salvatore Scarpitta, Anselm Kiefer, Andy Warhol, andMark Grotjahn. The exhibition opens Saturday, 1st March and continues through Thursday 6th.

THE CURATORS

Anna SuiAnna
Sui’s first fashion show in 1991 earned her international acclaim.She won the CFDA Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent in 1993,and in 2009 she received their prestigious Geoffrey Beene LifetimeAchievement Award. Anna Sui has 50 boutiques in eight countriesand her collection is sold in over 300 stores in over 30 countries. TheAnna Sui line also includes her very popular fragrance and cosmeticcollections as well as successful shoe and accessory licenses. AnnaSui designs and manufactures from her New York City headquarters. Her runway shows continue to inspire and set trends with hersignature rock-n-roll romanticism.

Maria Baibakova
In 2008, Maria Baibakova founded Baibakov Art Projects in Moscow, a nonprofitinstitution committed to building a platform for global contemporaryart in Moscow. Under Baibakova’s leadership as director and chief curator,they have organized nine critically acclaimed exhibitions featuring overseventy artists. Since January 2013, Baibakova is also Strategic Directorand serves on the Board of Directors of Artspace.com, the leading onlinemarketplace for contemporary art. Baibakova serves as a Trustee ofBarnard College as well as on committees at Lincoln Center for thePerforming Art (New York), Tate Modern (London), and Art Dubai. Trevor TrainaTrevor
Traina is the Founder and CEO of Traina Interactive, a venturefunded startup which operates IfOnly.com. He has founded or cofoundedfive successful technology companies. Reem Acra
Reem Acra has been designing since 1997 when she first launchedher company as a bridal line.
