Terna: electricity consumption +1,3% in July. Hydro Leap

The July 2018 data on electricity consumption in Italy indicate an increase of +1,3%. Water production achieved the best result, growing by +13,9% and the demand for electricity in the first seven months of 2018 rose by +0,4%

I results of the Italian energy sector mark another milestone in what appears to be the right direction: according to the latest data processed by Terna, the company that manages the national electricity grid, in July 2018 the demand for electricity in Italy was 30,4, 1,3 billion kWh, an increase of 2017% compared to the same month in XNUMX.

With one working day more than last year and an average monthly temperature in line with that of July last year, the figure relating to the change in demand on 2017 excluding the calendar effect and that relating to the temperature of demand is equal at 0,4%.

Territorially, the trend change in July 2018 was positive in the north with a result of +2,7% and in the center with a slight increase of +0,2%, while it was negative in the south at -0,9% .

As of July 2018, 43% of the net national energy production was made up of renewable energy sources and the remaining 57% from thermal sources.

In the same reporting period - July 2018 - 85,7% of the electricity demand was met with domestic production and the remaining 14,3% from the balance of electricity exchanged with foreign countries. Compared to last year, net national production decreased by 1,3% compared to July 2017. The source of water production increased by 13,9%, while there was a decline in photovoltaics at -2,2%, wind at -2,5%, thermal at -4,8% and geothermal at -5,1%.

From an overview of the 2018 data, the demand for electricity amounted to 188,6 billion kWh, resulting in an increase of 0,4% compared to the same period of 2017, and also in this case eliminating the calendar and that on the temperature, the variation is zero.
