PRIMARY PD - Bersani-Renzi thaw but Casini warns: "No alliance with those who go with Sel"

In the end, Bersani's patience was right. And so the national assembly of the Democratic Party, which, in fact, starts the path of the primaries was anything but the psychodrama that many had accredited. First it was largely exceeded the quorum necessary for the meeting to be considered valid: no less than 571 votes voted for the statutory change (basically a suspension of the previous rule) which will allow the mayor of Florence Matteo Renzi to be in the game. There were 8 against, plus one abstention.
Now it will be Bersani who submits the indications of the meeting to Vendola, Nencini and Rutelli (SEL, socialists and API) and to define with them the rules for voting. Which will be in two rounds in the event that none of the candidates exceeds 50% of the first and will provide for the pre-registration of voters, which however can also take place on the day of the first round of voting. In the second round, in addition to those who took part in the first round, even those who, despite not having voted, had been careful to register in good time will be able to vote.
Matteo Renzi did not go to Ergife yesterday to attend the meeting, preferring to continue his motorhome tour around Italy. A move that has created some disappointment, among those who were also inclined to support him. However, the mayor of Florence appreciated the conclusions of the assembly, confirming that he trusted Bersani and that he was against useless controversies. In short, even if the pitfalls are around every corner, yesterday's assembly is a good start for the primaries of the centre-left. On the other hand, the comment of the UDC leader Casini is dry and negative: no alliance with those who go with SEL and the IDV.
