Poste: its sustainability passes the UN test

The specialized UN agency for the postal sector, known as the Universal Postal Union (acronym UPU) awarded Poste Italiane with a certificate of excellence for the results obtained in terms of sustainability and reduction of polluting emissions in the context of a ceremony held on February 27 in Bern.

In detail, the company led by Matteo Del Fante received recognition for having provided complete and accurate data relating to the company's direct emissions, developing an effective information model "as part of the OSCAR program (Online Solution for Carbon Analysis and Reporting), launched by the Universal Postal Union in 2018 and aimed at reporting and analyzing the quantitative and qualitative results of the postal activities of each operator in order to highlight the performance trend on an annual basis", explains Poste in a note.

The UPU ranking is based on the quality and completeness of the data provided. There are five categories: from the first, assigned to participants who provide complete and accurate data relating to direct emissions, to the fifth, which includes participants who report their emissions with more limited and deficient information, on which it is not possible to make any type of analyses.

For 2019, Poste returned to the highest category, 1, thus obtaining the certificate of excellence.

The company underlines that "there are only seventeen postal operators in the world awarded this year with the highest award (out of 192 member countries of the Union), nine of which are European".
