Severe weather warning continues Piemonte e Liguria, where in the last hours, due to heavy rains, rivers and streams overflowed, making many roads impassable and causing extensive damage, as well as making communications difficult. There would also be a dispersed: a 69-year-old man from Borgata Ciampiano di Perosa Argentina, in the Turin area.

What is worrying are the Po, Sangone and Chisola, which have passed the danger level in the Turin area and there are reportedly about 400 displaced people between the provinces of Cuneo and Turin. In the Asti area the Tanaro overflowed, flooding the Bormida valley, while in the Alba area it reached danger level. In Liguria the most affected area is that of the hinterland of Imperia. The municipalities of Cosio di Arroscia, Mendatica and Montegrosso Pian Latte are isolated.

Furthermore, in Turin the Gran Madre bridge, in the centre, after the collision of two tourist navigation boats, dragged away by the force of the river. However, the greatest damage occurred in the province, while the specter of the 1994 flood reappears, which caused about 70 deaths and damages for 20 billion lire, despite the very efficient Piedmontese Civil Protection, as confirmed by the President of the Region Sergio Chiamparino: "This time the rainfall was more intense than then, but in fact the situation was better thanks to the interventions made in the meantime".

Chiamparino met the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who today went to Turin to the headquarters of the regional civil protection, together with the mayor of the capital Chiara Appendino. "The emergency phase is not over, we are still waiting for the rivers to flood in Asti and Alessandria - said Renzi - at the moment no one can afford to breathe a sigh of relief".

“I invite the citizens – declared the mayor Appendino – to inquire about the institutional channels and I want to thank the roadmen and the staff of the metropolitan cities. We still expect intense hours but there is a good structure and I think we are facing the situation with great competence”.
