Stability Law, the green light comes from the EU

The result was expected by the Government, above all after the meeting between Renzi and Juncker at the G-20 in Brisbane – France also promoted, but in March a new examination for both.

Stability Law, the green light comes from the EU

Green light from the European Union to the stability law. Brussels, which invites Rome to go ahead with "the necessary reforms", will not start any procedure and will acknowledge that in 2014 there were "exceptional circumstances". In March, however, there will be a new exam, for Italy as well as for France and Belgium. Meanwhile, France itself also collects the promotion of the EU.

The meeting of the Commission's heads of cabinet therefore anticipates the verdict expected for Tuesday at the political level by the college of commissioners (the equivalent of the council of ministers of the "European government") also giving the green light to the possibility for national contributions to be allocated to the Investment Facility to be "voluntary" and, above all, to be "excluded from the calculation of the deficit".

A result in which the government had confidence. “We are expecting an overall assessment”, the Undersecretary for European Affairs, Sandro Gozi, anticipated in the morning. The outcome of the evaluation, according to European sources, was also helped by the "agreement between Renzi and Juncker" reached at the G20 in Australia, an agreement which included the letter of commitments on the reforms of the Italian government sent in recent days and published yesterday from the Treasury. Today's decision by the Sherpas therefore takes into account these close commitments.
