Fs: half-year profits +2,5%, Ebitda +8,1%

The operating result (Ebit), amounting to 438 million euros, rose by 52 million (+13,5%), despite the increase in depreciation and amortization (+8 million), write-downs and impairment losses (+4 million) , and provisions (+13 million), while the pre-tax result increased by 5 million (+1,5%).

FS closes the first half of 2014 with a net profit of 285 million, up 2,5% on an annual basis. Operating revenues also increased, to 44 million (+1,1%), and the gross operating margin (Ebitda), to 1,027 billion (+8,1%). The data for the period, compared with similar data for the first half of 2013, "confirm the positive management trend recorded in recent years", writes the company.

Revenues from transport services also increased, with the positive performance of "Freccia" brand products (+58 million euro), to which must be added the decrease recorded in operating costs of 33 million, also down by about 1% annually.

As for the net result for the period, FS specifies that it was up despite the worsening of the financial income and expense balance of 47 million, partly connected to the interest due from the subscribers of the listed bond loans issued by FS spa in July and December 2013 .
