Back in presence at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, BuyWine, the twelfth edition of international B2B wine showcase to denomination of Tuscany. Beyond 100 buyers from 30 countries meet Friday 11 and Saturday 12 February 200 Tuscan wineries selected through a regional tender. Among the international buyers, most come from the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Denmark, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands and Sweden. Buywine is an event promoted by the Tuscany Region together with the Chamber of Commerce of Florence and organized by PromoFirenze.
Over 2.500 scheduled meetings in the two days in Florence, for more than 20.000 tastings that will involve more than 1.300 labels belonging to 45 DOC, DOCG, IGT denominations of Tuscany. The meetings in Florence are the culmination of a journey that begins three months earlier. In fact, thanks to very detailed profiling and an ever-increasing familiarity with new technologies, buyers and sellers have the opportunity to know the profile of possible interlocutors well in advance and to express meeting preferences for the most suitable operators for their respective needs.
The success of the "hybrid" format of the event is largely contained in the platform that generates the agendas of buyers and sellers thanks to a matchmaking system that crosses their respective profiles. In these preparatory stages were more than 10.000 meeting preferences expressed between companies were collected. An attention to detail and the potential of the digital component which records very high percentages of satisfaction on the part of the participants every year and which positions Buywine among the most important B2B showcases on the national and international scene.
The protocols defined for health are even more stringent: more space, with 2.500 square meters more available to companies.
At the end of the two days at the fair, international buyers will be able to take part in a Wine Tour in the area, choosing from five itineraries designed in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce of Lucca, Massa Carrara, Pisa and Florence. About 90 have chosen to continue the journey into the universe of Tuscan wine, thus reserving the possibility of directly knowing the places, the stories, the faces that hide behind a label. The tours to discover the "Tuscany terroir" will start on February 13th.
For the first time, the Week of Previews of Tuscan wines, dedicated to the presentation of the new vintages of the main DOC and DOCG of the area, will take place in a different period from Buywine. In fact, due to the situation of uncertainty caused by the ongoing pandemic, the Consortia together with the Tuscany Region have decided to postpone their appointments to the month of March, from 19 to 25. As always, the week will open with PrimAnteprima, the opening day of the week that takes stock of Tuscan wine exports and production, scheduled this year for Saturday 19 March between the Cinema La Compagnia in Florence and Palazzo Vecchio (events for accredited press only).
