Stainless over time Massimo Bottura continues to reap successes in all national and international gastronomic guides. It is his Osteria Francescana in Modena, for 50 Top Italy, that conquers the title of Best restaurant in Italy 2023 for the Great Restaurants category. Surprise for the Author's Cuisine category where Zia Restaurant by Antonio Ziantoni takes center stage in Rome. Sharing the podium of the great restaurants we find in second position Mauro Uliassi in Senigallia and in third position Davide Oldani with his D'O in Cornaredo.
For signature cuisine, the silver medal goes to daGorini by Gianluca Gorini, in San Piero In Bagno, while Marotta Ristorante by Domenico Marotta, in Squille, conquers the third podium.
“We have divided the best restaurants of the Peninsula – they declare the three editors of the guide, Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro and Albert Sapere - second type of venue and price range, in three classifications containing 50 names each: Great Restaurants, Author's Cuisine and Luxury. Great Restaurants with no spending limit , Signature cuisine with a spending limit of around 100 euros; the Luxury category, which we will present on December 5th, includes those high-level restaurants with a high standard of service, present in Hotels, Relais, Charming Residences. All to have, more and more, a careful eye on spending and the type of place you want to choose, and to be as clear and direct towards consumers as possible".

The top ten of the Great Restaurants sees Enrico Bartolini MUDEC in fourth place, in Milan, fifth Le Calandre, in Rubano, sixth Danì Maison, in Ischia, seventh Duomo in Ragusa, in eighth place Enoteca Pinchiorri, in Florence, ninth Il Pagliaccio, in Rome, and in tenth position Taverna Estia, in Brusciano.
For Signature Cuisine, Dina in Gussago is in fourth place, Condividere in Turin is fifth, Argine in Vencò in Dolegna del Collio is sixth, Restaurant Villa Maiella in Guardiagrele is seventh, Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa in Vico Equense is eighth. ninth position for Gambero Rosso, in Marina di Gioiosa Ionica, and tenth position for Colline Ciociare in Acuto.
“An Italian restaurant that suffers – Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro and Albert Sapere continue – which has not lost its creativity and enamel, but which faces labour, energy and raw material costs which have more than doubled in recent months. This year we have chosen to present the guide in various stages, giving plenty of space to the web and social media to reach a wider audience. We will conclude the presentation on December 13th at the Teatro San Babila in Milan, delivering all the awards, including the special ones, which will focus attention on those professionals who have distinguished themselves in some way over the last year; we will then find out which will be the 50 Best Italian Restaurants in the World, outside the national borders.
