Eni: production suspended at Goliat

The suspension was due to damage to the exhaust pipe which prevented the crude from being transported on land. It is the second time that a failure leads to the shutdown of the plant in the icy Arctic sea of Norway

Eni: production suspended at Goliat

Eni Norge, the Norwegian subsidiary of the Italian oil giant, has stopped production at the Goliat field in the Arctic of Norway, of 100 barrels per day, due to an equipment failure. Output was halted on the night of December 26 after a routine inspection discovered damage to the outlet pipe preventing the crude from being transported onshore. A company spokesman confirmed the damage, stressing however that there were no leaks or spills. Furthermore, Eni has already begun operations to repair the fault, subject however to the climatic conditions which make it difficult to determine the timing. Already in August the company had been forced to stop production at the Goliat field due to a blackout, resuming normal activity a month later. Shortly before 10:00 the stock dropped 0,4% in Piazza Affari, against the substantially flat performance of the Ftse Mib and the slight rise in oil, with Brent and Wti respectively in the area of 57,1 and 54 dollars a barrel .
