Still inconvenience a Catania where theairport it was again closed after the fire of last July 16: planes stopped until 20 pm today, Monday August 14. After closing weeks due to the need to investigate and to restore the spaces engulfed in flames, to decree the closure of the airport – both for arrivals and departures – this time it is the activity of theEtna.
The airport management company had announced that, due to the eruptive activity of Etna, airspace sectors C13 and B1 will remain closed until 3 pm today: and therefore all arrivals and departures are blocked. But the ash residues from the eruption have completely covered the runways of Catania airport, where the means are struggling to collect it and for this reason the closure has been extended until at least 20pm this evening.
“Dear passengers are kindly requested to present themselves at the airport only after consulting their airline – reads a note -. For information on diverted or canceled flights, please contact the airlines or check the situation in real time on the airport website www.aeroporto.catania.it and on the airport's Facebook and Twitter profiles”.
The management company advises passengers to consult the websites of the airlines or that of the same Fontanarossa.
