Unioncamere, 31 thousand more companies between April and June

In the second quarter of 2012, 31.500 more companies were born than those that ceased to exist. This was announced by the president of Unioncamere, Ferruccio Dardanello, citing data from Movimprese at the annual assembly of the union of chambers of commerce. The positive balance between the birth rate and the death rate of companies "surprised us too," said Dardanello. Despite a situation of great difficulty for the country's economy, between April and June 103.785 businesses were born while 72.220 businesses ceased to exist, an increase compared to the same period of 2011. Indeed, the worst result since 2008. However, the balance remains positive, with 31.565 more companies registered in the Register of Chambers of Commerce and with an increase in the stock of +0,52% over the three months.

At the provincial level, a Lecce recorded the most sustained growth (+1,15%) and in absolute values Rome marks the largest increase with 3.838 more companies registered in the quarter. The more structural legal forms continue to be preferred: le limited companies grow by 0,79%, a slight slowdown compared to the same period last year. Continue to slow down, however, the growth of Partnerships (+0,35%) and sole proprietorships (+0,44%).

But there are still many steps to take, Dardanello recalled. We need to overthrow prejudices, still too strong on entrepreneurs, to move the social elevator "stopped for years", restore trust and recover "the sense of community". The Monti government is working in the right direction, "but that's not enough". This is why there is a need for "extraordinary maintenance" of our production structure, promoting the modernization of enterprises in traditional sectors, still protagonists of our exports todayinternationalize businesses even further, improve their access to credit, make the context increasingly favorable to economic operators, support employment and innovation, protect the quality and traceability of products and enhance the excellence of the territory".
