21 September 2022: USA and Italy bring together young artists to celebrate the World "Zero Emissions" Day

USA-Italy twinning for the day World Day "Zero Emissions'' scheduled for September 21st. Demonstrations will be held all over the world to reiterate the need to no longer release harmful substances into the atmosphere.

The non-profit organization Yourban2030, however, had the original idea of bring together the United States and Italy in the context of two events. Two locations in the name of the 2030 Agenda and 2 young people engaged in artistic representations and events inspired by beauty.

The two appointments are one a New York, in Manhattan in collaboration with the Department of Education of New York City, in the prestigious High School of Art and Design; the other into Abruzzo, in Aielli in the province of L'Aquila, in the open-air museum of Borgo Universo. Two realities – a megalopolis and a small municipality in central Italy – which in virtual mode, through the eyes of artists and students, will propose practices of daily ecological change, social responsibility with a view to zero emissions.

"We are thrilled to join this world day - promoted by the Climate Leadership Coalition - which turns the spotlight on environmental issues" he explains Veronica DeAngelis, president Yourban2030 “and we are above all proud to have done so by making students protagonists in two different countries”. On yet another occasion, therefore, art becomes a vehicle of change and environmental regeneration. The message that the organizers sent to America and Italy to present Zero Emissions is not bad either "to reduce emissions it is necessary starting with daily choices, made by ordinary people and through more sustainable solutions”.

But what does creativity have to do with it? In New York, the event day is dedicated to creative solutions, precisely, for air quality. The students will present 185 square meters of eco-murals together with collateral events and the addition of a garden and a new green area open to the city on the roof. The eco-murals will be able to eliminate air pollution through particular patterns and colors using the famous Airlite paint also recognized as valid by the United Nations. On the other hand, Veronica De Angelis in the USA is appreciated precisely for this kind of initiative and in 2020 she was included among the 10 green women of the year.

And we come to Zero emissions at Borgo Universo in a US-Italy key. Here it will come to life constellations, the project dedicated to the Italian under 35s of Negroni Salumi who collaborate with Yourban2030. The artistic direction is by Palomart Network.

The boys practice street art and love astronomy and in the Borgo itself the French artist Zoer together with the Neapolitan street artist John Anastasia, will sign the first eco-murals inspired by the keywords, respect and balance.

After all, Zero Emissions Day was born from the 17 UN Goals for the climate. The contribution that painting and artists are giving to the global cause – as for the US-Italy confrontation – to save the planet is gaining more and more consents and adhesions. The mix of techniques and stylistic elements makes the environmentalist messages more fluid, which are not yet fully infecting decision-makers, politicians and clients. But there will be no turning back because young people have more enthusiasm and conscience even when they are on both sides of the Atlantic.
