From Friday 16 April the first ones come into service Covid-free trains of Trenitalia. The FS group company explains that it is two Frecciarossa non-stop Rome-Milan: the first leaves from Rome Termini at 8.50 and the second from Milan Central at 18. On these trains, passengers can only board if negative for Covid-19, but the capacity will still be reduced by 50%, as expected for all other trains. The arrangement of the passengers therefore remains "checkerboard", so that no one has other people seated immediately in front or behind.
In detail, access to the two Covid-free Frecciarossa trains will only be guaranteed to those who present a certificate of negativity after a Covid test within 48 hours before of departure. They are accepted both the molecular test and the antigenic swab quick done in any facility. Alternatively, it is possible to do the quick swab for free at Termini or Milano Centrale station. However, all passengers must present themselves at the station at least 45 minutes before departure. People who have received the anti-Covid vaccine are not exempt from the obligation to test.
In case of positivity - specifies Trenitalia - the 100% ticket refund, even if the customer bought it at discounted rates. Just show the test certificate. The positive passenger has the right not to ask for a refund, but for a voucher that can be used within the following 12 months.
Later, FS will make available to the Red Cross a series of spaces in eleven stations where to set up tensile structures for population screening activities. In addition to Roma Termini and Milano Centrale, the stations of Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Firenze Santa Maria Novella, Napoli Centrale, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Torino Porta Nuova and Venezia Mestre will be involved.
Gianfranco Battisti, managing director of the Fs, announced that, with the late spring and summer, Covid-free trains will increase to allow "travel in total safety to tourist destinations such as Florence, Venice, Naples and many others".
