The first installment of the resources destined for Italy in the context of the Next Generation EU has arrived. After the advance of 24,9 billion received last summer, today Italy collected 21 billion euros. The president of the EU Commission announced it on Twitter, Ursula von der Leyen. "Good news for Italy: the first payment from the Next Generation EU for 21 billion euros for Italy is underway," he wrote. “Congratulations to Italy. Next Generation Eu is the opportunity of a generation,” she added.
Soon the government confirmation: “Today Italy received the payment of the first installment for the 'Italia Domani' National Recovery and Resilience Plan: 21 billion euros, of which 10 billion in grants and 11 in the form of a loan, following the positive assessment by the European Commission and all EU Member States on the achievement of the 51 objectives of the PNRR in 2021".
The Commissioner for Economic Affairs is also satisfied Paul Gentiloni: “The first European payment for the Italian Pnrr was decided this morning: 21 billion thanks to the achievement of the targets agreed for the end of 2021. The Commission is working with Italian authorities to continue the implementation of Next Generation,” he wrote on Twitter.
On the matter it is the Mef also intervened who, through a note, explained that the installment “has a total value of approximately 24,1 billion euros, with a part of grants equal to 11,5 billion and a part of loans equal to 12,6 billion. The effectively disbursed amount of €21 billion (split between €10 billion in grants and €11 billion in loans) is net of a share that the Commission retains from each repayment installment, equal to 13% of the pre-financing received in August 2021 from Italy”.
“Payment of the first installment of the PNRR – underlines the Ministry of the Economy – represents a further step in the process of implementing the investments and reforms envisaged by the Plan. These are interventions that will allow accelerate the ecological and digital transition, strengthen the production system, modernize the public administration, reduce the time of justice and increase the infrastructure endowment of our country".
Summing up, therefore, Italy has already collected 45 billion out of a total, in the context of the Next Generation Eu, which will reach 191,5 billion euros.
