Il French government reiterated in the stability law on 2015 that the public deficit will drop from 4,3% of GDP in 2015 to 3,8% in 2016 and 2,8% in 2017. The country's economic policies will therefore not change, underlined Paris, but the pace of consolidation of public finances will be adapted to the economic situation.
“The pace of deficit reduction is adapted to the economic situation. No further efforts will be required of the French, because the government – while maintaining the budgetary responsibility necessary to keep the country on the right course – rejects austerity”, writes the finance ministry.
According to government estimates, the GDP will grow by 1% next year, by 1,7% in 2016 and by 1,9% in 2017, while public debt will reach 97,2% of GDP in 2015, 98,0% in 2016 and 97,3% in 2017.
