Eurozone, composite PMI index down but still above 50. Manufacturing flop after 14 months

The Markit Flash PMI on Eurozone composite output fell to 52,8 in August, a two-month low, compared to 53,8 in July. Despite the drop in August, the index has been above the neutral threshold of 14 for 50 consecutive months. Production increased both in manufacturing (estimated at 50,8, a minimum for 13 months) and in the minimum for two months), with tertiary companies again recording the largest increase.

However, growth rates have slowed in both sectors. More marked was the slowdown in manufacturing, which after a sequence of 14 consecutive months of growth recorded the weakest level of expansion.
