Eniverse, Eni's corporate venture builder, and FuturaSun, a company that produces high-efficiency photovoltaic panels, have established SunXT, with the purpose of jointly develop the panels PV perovskite-silicon tandem to contribute to the energy transition process.
This was announced in a press release which explains how SunXT integrates technology on innovative materials to Perovskite developed internally in Eni over the years with FuturaSun's experience in tandem photovoltaics, gained through Solertix, its own deep-tech start-up founded by internationally renowned researchers, among the first in Europe to develop perovskite cells. SunXT share capital It is 56,1% owned by FuturaSun and 43,9% by Eniverse.
SunXT, the note indicates, was created to improve current silicon modules, offering greater efficiency, versatility and competitiveness.
The new panels
The new 4-terminal architecture It couples a perovskite module with a traditional silicon module, maximizing the conversion of sunlight into electricity. The panels are also designed and manufactured to capture sunlight from both surfaces. The first phase of SunXT's development plan involves the creation of a pilot line and subsequent industrial scale-up for the production of 4-terminal panels for use in the residential, commercial, and utility sectors.
This initiative is in line with Eni's Dual Innovation Model, which aims to transform the company's technological assets and expertise into new business opportunities through strategic partnerships, the press release adds.
