Author's judgement:

two and a half stars

It will be that the "war" genre is always popular, it will be that we are in the middle of summer and that there is notoriously little to see, it will be that in any case a nice deserted room, with air conditioning, a big screen and no one who eats stinky popcorn sitting next to you , ultimately a healthy action movie, modern combat can always be seen.

We are talking about 12 soldiers, in theaters for a few days (and given how much the offer of the moment is passing, let's hope it stays a few days longer than usual) directed by an unknown Nicolai Fuglsig. The story really happened: in the aftermath of the attack on the twin towers of 11 September in New York, the USA decides to send special teams of commandos to Afghanistan with the aim of hitting the bases of the Taliban held responsible for the attack. A special operations group arrives on site, made up of 12 men from the special forces, with the task of providing logistical and operational support to the Northern Alliance forces already fighting against the terrorists. The situation on the field is very complex and the task for the 12 soldiers will be very tough but, in the end, the mission will be completed successfully. This time, as often happens for films of this genre, the conclusion is known in advance and the good guys always win against the bad guys and that's perfectly fine. As for the screenplay, the shooting technique, the acting there is little to say: enough special effects, dialogues bordering on sufficient (only a few passages worthy of note on the role and presence of foreign armies in that region of the world and the meaning of war). The film lets itself be seen, without infamy and without glory. Just enough for a hot summer afternoon at the cinema.

We take this opportunity to invite film enthusiasts to follow the many events of outdoor screenings, the old arenas, where countless major titles are playing. We mention three. TO Roma, in a monumental complex that is as little known as it is important: S. Croce i Gerusalemme where the review Per il cinema Italiano is underway, promoted by MIBACT and entrusted to the Experimental Center of Cinematography. Free and with special events of sure interest.

A Milano AriAnteo is once again this year with a selection of the most successful films of the past season on the calendar, as well as old restored productions. For this season there are four venues: AriAnteo Palazzo Reale (from 4 June), AriAnteo City Life (from 7 June), AriAnteo Umanitaria (from 13 June) and AriAnteo Chiostro dell'Incoronata (from 1 July).

A Napoli the offer of open-air cinema is particularly rich and widespread in the city: from Villa Pignatelli to the Bosco di Capodimonte, from the Rione Terra di Pozzuoli to the Mostra d'oltremare you are spoiled for choice.
However, we know that throughout the country, from North to South, the pleasure of an evening of entertainment on the big screen is always appreciated. Happy cinema!
