US import prices fell 0,4% month-on-month in August, compared with +0,3% the previous month. However, the decline was lower than expectations which had foreseen a decline of 0,7%. On an annual basis, however, an increase of +13% was recorded. Excluding oil imports, import prices increased by 0,2%. The data was released by the US Department of Commerce.
The export price index showed growth of 0,5% in August (-0,4% in July), while there was a trend increase of 9,6%. Ex-agriculture export prices rose 0,3%, after a revised +0,1% in July.
