Unioncamere: Piq index, quality Italy is worth 47,9% of GDP

It was presented yesterday, in Rome, at the Sala Longhi, the Piq report for 2011, drawn up by Unioncamere and the Symbola Foundation. The Piq is the internal quality product, an indicator correlated to the GDP, but which, instead of well-being, measures the quality in the production process, as a symptom of the health of an economy.

As stated in the premise by Ferruccio Dardanello, President of Unioncamere, and Ermete Realacci, President of Symbola, the real need, in the most advanced economies, "is not to increase the GDP, but to raise its quality", that is, one must focus on a unique and original product, as well as on technological innovation. This research often goes hand in hand with attention to the environmental issue. The Italian "green" companies, in fact, are the most prone to innovation: "37,9% of companies investing in eco-sustainability introduced product or service innovations in 2011, against 18,3% of those who do not invest in clean technologies”.

The value of the Piq in 2011 amounts to 47,9% of the GDP for 2011, for a value of approximately 460 billion euros, a share, therefore, close to half of the Italian gross domestic product, and growing compared to 2010%. when the share of the Piq stood at 47,0%.

Above all, the service sectors (300 billion) and industry (121 billion) grew, followed by construction and agriculture. Among the areas, the North West is doing well, where the Piq represents 56,25 of the GDP, while the South stands at 30%. Excellent data relating to Made in Italy exports, increased by 10,7% net of production costs.
