Fs Logistics, company of FS group active in rail freight transport, increases the frequency of the intermodal connections between Duisburg, in the heart of the Ruhr, and Milan, thanks to the German subsidiary Tx LogistikSince January 2026, the two cities have been connected by 10 weekly round trips, with two daily connections in each direction, compared to the previous six.
The route, strategic for the transport of goods and consumer goods, sees each train move up to 1.600 tons distributed across 34 loading units, without restrictions on the types of goods transshipable: semi-trailers, 30- and 45-foot containers, 20- and 25-foot tank containers. Nik system (Neutral Intermodal Key), developed by TX Logistik, allows even non-movable semi-trailers to be quickly loaded in just two minutes.
Milan's arrival terminal changes, while Duisburg remains the German hub.
A significant change concerns the destination terminal in Milan: transshipment of goods will no longer take place in Segrate, but in Milan Smistamento Terminal (Mist and Messina), which offers greater operational capabilities and enables faster and more flexible processes, improving overall performance.
A Duisburg, the “Ziel Terminal” remains central Hohenbudberg, in which Tx Logistik holds a stake. The facility has seven 720-meter-long transhipment tracks, two sorting sidings, and two overhead cranes, forming the main hub for connections to Italy.

The increase in connections responds to a growing demand for freight transport between Germany e ItalyTx Logistik aims to offer greater flexibility and security in rail transport planning, making it easier for shippers and companies to manage their rail freight.
