A general strike in the public and private sectors was called on Wednesday 8 March to protest against violence against women. Transport is especially at risk, with trains, planes and public transport stopped for 24 hours.

One was called on Wednesday, March 8 general strike of the public and private sector. Transport is especially at risk, with stationary trains, planes and public transport.

The strike, which will have a duration of 24 hours, was proclaimed by the trade unions USI, Slai Cobas, Cobas, Confederation of Base Committees, Usb, Sial Cobas, Usi-Ait, Usb, Sgb, Flc and Cgil in conjunction with "Women's Day". The stop, promoted by the "International Women's Movement" will not have a national character, but will involve as many as 30 countries in order to protest against violence against women.

Strong disruptions are expected in the rail transport, where Trenitalia, Italo and Trenord rides are at risk. The former has already feared possible cancellations and delays on all lines. However, the Frecce will travel regularly.

Italo has published on its website the list of guaranteed trains, while Trenord informs that long-distance trains and the Regional, Suburban and Airport services could be subject to delays, changes and cancellations. However, the company that deals with rail transport lets it be known that there shouldn't be any inconvenience for the trains included in the list of "Minimum Guaranteed Services" whose departure from the official time is scheduled after 06:00 and the arrival at the final destination by 09:00, and those whose departure from the official time is scheduled after 18:00.

Inconveniences, from midnight on March 7 to 23.59 pm of the following day also on airplane transport. Despite this, there are still no news of possible cancellations. Guaranteed time slots from 7 to 10 and from 18 to 21.

Finally, the strike will also involve local public transport employees. In Milan, ATM let it be known that delays and cancellations are expected from 8.45 to 15.00 and from 18.00 at the end of the service. In Rome the strike will affect buses, trams, subways managed by ATTACK, the Rome-Civitacastellana-Viterbo and Rome-Lido railways and the peripheral lines managed by the company Roma Tpl. 

Two guarantee bands are foreseen: from the beginning of the race and until 8.30 and from 17.20. Night buses will not be guaranteed, as will line 913.
