Agici Report 2022: renewables and innovation for Italy's energy independence

Wind and solar could replace a third of Russian gas. This is what emerges from the Agici Oir report, which will be presented on June 16 in Milan

Agici Report 2022: renewables and innovation for Italy's energy independence

Renewables and technological innovation. THE'energy independence of Italy from the 29 billion cubic meters of Russian gas passes through these two technologies which are able to reduce imports by over 10 billion cubic metres, with an annual saving of around 8 billion euros based on current methane prices. A street – the one that will be presented on June 16 in Milan in Annual Report of the Renewable Industry Observatory (Oir) of Agici – which paradoxically Italy could already travel.

The event will open with the presentation of the new data OIR 2022 Renewables Report edited by Agici and Fichtner, strategic partner of the Observatory. Two round tables will follow, during which the theme of new technologies for producing and storing renewable energy and digitization for maximizing production will be explored, respectively.

OIR 2022 Renewables Report: renewables facing the challenge of technological innovation

Il Oir 2022 report "Renewables facing the challenge of technological innovation: new ways to produce and manage" explores the dynamics of innovation of renewables, investigating the state of technological progress of the sector, as well as the potential and limits for further development of applications and of investments. These dynamics mainly concern thefloating wind farm, le new photovoltaic production technologies , digitization of plants.

The study also provides an analysis of the current Italian and European policy context to enable the adoption of innovative solutions; examines technical aspects and successful use cases of new generation technologies, new materials and designs to maximize plant efficiency, digital approaches to improve the configuration and management of renewable plants; finally, it explores the strategy of a sample of 15 sector operators, both integrated renewable companies and companies from the Oil & Gas sector, in terms of innovative technologies and digitalisation.
