Advertising: -7,5% in Italy in 2012 but without recovery in the last quarter, double-digit drop

The UPA forecasts a drop in advertising sales in 2012 apart from a small recovery in the last quarter of the year. “This is the most difficult year since the war for consumers.[…] But we mustn't be afraid,” said the president of the advertising users association Lorenzo Sassoli de Bianco.

A black 2012 is expected for the world of advertising. The President of UPA (Utenza Pubblicità Associati) Sassoli de Bianco announced that this year the drop will be 7,5% with a probable increase in the last quarter.

In 2013 however, it is believed that the world of advertising will have an upswing, but not to the level of the boom of 2011.

It will only be the web sector that will record an increase in advertising "affixes". All other sectors will record a not inconsiderable decrease. The press sector will suffer, in particular newspapers and magazines (respectively -11% and -13%), and also the "outdoor" sector (street billboards) which will record a drop of 15%. What suffers the most is cinema with a 25% drop in turnover. Instead, TV will fare better, whose revenues from the advertising world will drop by 8%.
