Nomisma: building green is convenient. A research on the costs and opportunities of sustainable building

What are the real costs and opportunities of building "green". Today in Rome the association Pentapolis organized a meeting in which the theme of sustainable construction was addressed and the research "Green living, current trends and future market drivers" was presented, carried out in collaboration with Nomisma.

The real estate market and urban transformations are now driven by environmental sustainability and attention to health. Italian families, of which Nomisma's research provides a sort of identikit, now take into consideration factors whose importance was not even understood once when they buy a house. For example: latest generation boilers, high energy performance fixtures, external wall insulation, low consumption appliances, water flow reducers, water recycling and use of materials that are not harmful to health. Only 3,2% of households has all the “green” requirements; 24% instead have none. 60,7% pay sporadic attention to energy and environmental performance.

“To date, green building practices – said Massimiliano Pontillo, President of Pentapolis – are starting to be a reality – The Italian market can count on a rapidly growing demand, even if still not able to give a real conversion to the sector and to the whole supply chain, but whose orientation is starting to weigh”.
