In Milan, the worst stock was Monte Paschi -5,29%, influenced by rumors according to which the MPS Foundation would like to sell its stake before the next shareholders' meeting on 27 December. In a note, the Foundation announced that "to date it has not initiated any sale of the ordinary shares" of the bank and specifies that "as of today" it holds shares equal to "33,5% of the ordinary and total capital" of the Sienese institute . The entity then reiterates that "after acknowledging the decision of the bank's board of directors to convene the shareholders' meeting with the proposal for a delegated capital increase with pre-emptive rights of up to 3 billion euros", to reserve itself "any determination in this regard, remaining determined to work for the safety of the institution, the safeguarding of its assets and, last but not least, the protection of its role in the territory".
