Le companies predict approx 494 thousand new contracts of work (with a duration exceeding one month or for an indefinite period) for the month of May and almost 1,6 million in the quarter from May to July. This significantly increased job demand, up 5,8% year-on-year in May and 2,2% in the quarter. The industrial sector overall it expects over 136 thousand new hires in the month and more than 410 thousand in the quarter, with increases of 3,5% and 2,4% respectively compared to the previous year. The businesses of the services, which project to recruit 357 thousand workers in the month and around 1,2 million in the quarter, with increases of 6,7% and 2,2% respectively compared to the same period of 2023. The South and the Islands are confirmed as the area more dynamic territorial, with 140 thousand contracts expected. Manufacturing and services growing, good prospects for tourism
In May, the manufacturing sector is looking for 85 thousand new talents, a number that amplifies to 262 thousand during the quarter. The industries of mechatronics lead the ranking of opportunities, with 22 thousand jobs arriving this month and 65 thousand in the quarter, followed by metallurgy (16 thousand and 48 thousand respectively), fromagri-food (12 thousand and 45 thousand) and fashion (10 thousand and 29 thousand). Meanwhile, in the construction sector an influx of 51 thousand new hires is expected in May and 148 thousand in the quarter.
But it's not just factories that offer opportunities. The promises a summer full of work, with 119 thousand places available this month and 405 thousand in the May-July quarter. Also the business is growing, with 69 thousand new hires expected in May and 220 thousand in the quarter. Followed by services to people (around 53 thousand and 188 thousand respectively) and operational support services for businesses and people (39 thousand and 125 thousand).
The gap between supply and demand for jobs remains high
However, a challenge arises: the gap between labor supply and demand. In May, 48,2% of requested profiles were difficult to find, with approximately 238 thousand risky positions. The Market of Professions highlights the search for specialized figures, such as textile machinery workers (78,9% difficulty), construction workers (76,9%), blacksmiths and tool makers (76,8%), and many others. The demand for workers immigrants, stable at 19,7% of total hires, is mainly concentrated in operational support services (32,6%), in transport, logistics and warehousing services (30,6%), in metallurgy (23,4%) , in construction (23,1%) and in tourism (20,2%).
At a territorial level, after South and Islands which record the greatest dynamism of businesses (+15 thousand, +11,9%), followed by northwest (7 thousand, +5,5%), the Centro (3 thousand, +3,3%) and the North East coast (1,6 thousand, +1,4%).
