The much-discussed Sunday opening of shops can turn into a great opportunity. To create jobs, especially for young people, who will certainly not make ends meet but will have one more chance to get busy to "round up" and resist the crisis.
The first initiative in this sense comes from the Pam supermarket chain, and is aimed exclusively at students. The Veneto group of large food retailers offers them the opportunity, on the day off from university commitments, to work even just one day a week. "You are a student? Work with us on Sundays”, is the slogan of the “recruitment” campaign, which will involve many of the 130 Pam sales outlets throughout the country, and which has already garnered the interest of quite a few young people.
In fact, already five thousand applications have reached the website (to apply you need to go to the address Lavoraconnoi.gruppopam.it): evidently, in addition to the seriousness of the commitment – regulated by the national trade contract – the students are tempted by the figure offer, not bad for only 4 days of work per month. Pam does not yet provide precise figures on pay, but it can be safely calculated that, in a standard month made up of four Sundays, in the end a young student finds 300-400 euros on his paycheck.
Not bad, especially from the point of view of the social message: Pam and the many students who have already proposed are proof that one can and must go beyond the retrograde sacredness of Sunday work. That this, like so many others, can become an example of virtuous flexibility. Looking forward to better times.
