After the success in the management offices, Lavazza brings the “short Friday” even at 400 workers of the plant Gattinara, in the province of Vercelli. This important step is the result of new supplementary agreement signed with the unions (Fai, Flai and Uila), valid for three-year period 2024-2026.
Following the trends of large companies such as Intesa Sanpaolo, Sace and Luxottica, Lavazza is committed to reconciling productivity and worker well-being with more flexible working hours. Erik Beligni, industrial relations director of the Lavazza Group, declared: “employee well-being has always been at the center of our approach as has the achievement of business results; we have been working for years to encourage the development of the plant which allows us to combine the search for production, quality and service excellence with the promotion of a stimulating, incentivising and flexible environment which is able to ensure the satisfaction of business needs but also of well-being and needs of our people, in this case also introducing interesting opportunities in terms of work-life balance".
Lavazza: what changes with the new agreement?
The new mechanism allows you to recover the additional hours work the Saturday reducing the time of Friday. For each day of greater performance, 4 additional hours of recovery will be recognized, thus allowing the "short Friday" to be implemented. This time flexibility, already appreciated in the offices, was also strongly requested in production, obtaining almost unanimous consensus with 97% of workers in favor of the agreement.
The agreement provides for a new model of Award for goals, which enhances both individual performance and the overall results of the Group. In case of excellence, the reward can come up to 15 thousand euros in the three-year period.
Lavazza also recognizes 250 euros per year in Ticket Compliment, in addition to the achievement bonus. Those who choose to allocate the bonus to welfare services will benefit from tax advantages and a 10% increase in the fee, paid by the company.
Furthermore, the paid leave for caregivers and parents: 8 hours per year for accompanying medical visits and 4 hours for veterinary assistance. They were also introduced 5 days of paternity leave paid, additional to the 10 already provided for by law. Finally, it is also extended to Gattinara corporate volunteer program, allowing employees to take advantage of a paid day for voluntary activities in the area.
