The weight of the economy continues to grow black and illegal activities. To say it is theIstat, according to which this type of economy represents 13% of GDP, or 211 billion euros. The figure from the Institute of Statistics refers to 2014 and is up by 8 billion euro compared to 2011, when the weight of the unobserved economy on GDP was 12,4%.
In detail, undeclared work reaches up to 194,4 billion euros (12% of GDP) while the weight of illegal activities is 17 billion euros, 1% of GDP. The main portion, equal to 46,9%, of the added value generated by the unobserved economy in 2014 derives from the under-declaration by economic operators. 36,5%, on the other hand, is attributable to the use of irregular work (34,7% in 2013), 8,6% to undeclared rents, tips and supply-demand integration and 8% to illegal activities. The sectors in which the undeclared are more widespread are business, transport, accommodation and catering activities and construction.
In 2014 the irregular work units they are 3,667 million, mainly employees (2,595 million), a significant increase over the year (+180 thousand and +157 thousand respectively). The rate of irregularity out of total workers is equal to 15,7%, an increase compared to the 15% recorded in 2013. The sectors in which irregularity in the work is most widespread are personal services (47,4% in 2014, 2,4 percentage points more than 2013), agriculture (17,5%), trade, transport, accommodation and catering (16,5%) and construction (15,9%)
