Ilva, Costamagna: "The CDP could take the field for the relaunch"

La Cassa Depositi e Prestiti can not directly buy theIlva "for a number of reasons, including of a regulatory nature", but it could participate in any consortium to take over the iron and steel plant in Taranto from extraordinary administration. The president of the CDP said, Claudius Costamagna, in an interview with Class-Cnbc on the occasion of Invest Italy, an initiative promoted by the Government to attract investments in Italy.

Costamagna also specified that the operation could initially take place as a company lease and at a later time the Cassa could formally take over Ilva. At that point it would start the recovery phase, which would be conducted "by making all the necessary investments - explained the number one of the CDP - both to solve environmental problems and for commercial recovery", because "it is a company that is too important for the Italian industrial system".
