Greece, Juncker: "I don't understand Tsipras"

“I don't understand Tsipras”, vented the president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, in an interview with the German weekly Der Spiegel. Instead of continuing to complain, argued the Luxembourg politician, the Greek prime minister should owe his constituents that the Commission has offered Athens an investment program worth 35 billion euros from 2015 to 2020. “If I were the Greek prime minister, I would claim it as a victory".

“The trust I have placed in him has not always been reciprocated”. Moreover, the Greek premier seems to have misunderstood the role of mediator of the head of the Commission, as if he were instead "someone who can pull the rabbit out of the cylinder. But that's not the case – concluded Juncker – I have repeatedly warned him that he cannot rely on me alone to avoid the collapse of the negotiations”. Juncker therefore did not rule out Grexit: "I cannot in any case prevent the failure of the talks".
