"2019 was the best year in the history of the Ferrovie dello Stato Group”. With these words, the CEO of the FS Group, Gianfranco Battisti, announces the approval of the 2019 financial statements. Last year closed with a Net income of 584, up 4,5% compared to 2018. I revenues they rose by 363 million (+3%) to 12,4 billion, mainly driven by the performance of transport services, whose revenues reached 7,6 billion euro (+230 million). 

On i operating costs, which recorded an increase of 2,4% to 230 million euros. L'ebitda of the group increased by 5,4%, reaching 2,6 billion euros with an ebitda margin of 21%, while theebit was equal to 829 million (+16,1% on the previous year), equal to an Ebit Margin of 6,7%. 

“For the second consecutive year we exceeded all of our financial goals, on the basis of the growth of recurring revenues and a continuous attention to cost rationalization”, underlined the CEO Battisti. “We are strong in our 2019-2023 Business Plan and the guiding principles linked to sustainability: with distributed economic value of 10,2 billion euros, a contribution of 1,4% to the Italian GDP and lower emissions equal to 2,6 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in 2019,” continued Battisti.

As for 2020, characterized by the health and economic emergency due to the coronavirus, the manager announced that the group "is already ready to restart with an extraordinary plan to accelerate investments in rail and road infrastructure for over 20 billion euros by 2020. FS Italiane is preparing for the post-pandemic phase with strategies that will adapt to the world which has inevitably changed and the ways of traveling will be very different from those of today with innovative preventive measures where we can crystallize the principle of health safety in travel in travelers, after a pandemic experience of this type”, concluded Battisti.
