New order for FincantieriThe Trieste-based naval group has won an important contract from the Navy for construction of two new Ppa units – Multipurpose Combat Ship (multi-mission combat units) which will replace those transferred to the Indonesian Navy. total value of the agreement is of about 700 million euro and also includes activities already carried out for units originally destined for Indonesia.
The two new Ppa units, in “Light Plus” configuration, will be built at the Integrated Shipyard of Riva Trigoso and Muggiano, with Expected deliveries in 2029 and 2030 respectively.
A strategic role for Fincantieri in Defense
Fincantieri further consolidates its position of note in the Navy fleet renewal program, confirming itself as key player in the sector of national defense. The integration of the new contract, started with the latest “Naval Law”, is coordinated by Occar (Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d'Armement) within the Temporary Business Grouping (RTI), which sees Fincantieri as the leader and Leonardo as the main partner.

The ships can in fact be equipped in a more light way, for patrol and self-defense missions, or with complete equipment to guarantee maximum protection. Another distinctive element is the ability to operate fast boats, which can be launched either by lateral cranes or by a stern launching ramp. With a length of 143 meters, a speed of over 31 knots and a crew of 171 people, these units are equipped with an advanced propulsion system combining diesel engines, gas turbines and electric propulsion.
Furthermore, I am able to provide drinking water and electricity on the ground, thus demonstrating considerable autonomy and support capacity even in emergency situations.
Fincantieri soars on the stock exchange
The news of the new order was also welcomed positively by the markets. The title Fincantieri flies at Piazza Affari in the Ftse MidCap segment, marking a +6,12% reaching 15,25 euros.
