È recovery on the morning of Friday 22 August the circulation of the entire line direct train from Florence to RomeA press release confirmed that the work, carried out by RFI (the Italian State Railways Group), was completed yesterday. The Florence-Rome Direttissima line had been suspended from August 11th to 21st between Chiusi and Orvieto for maintenance and infrastructure improvement works. With the reopening of the Florence – Rome direct line, and of the Bologna-Milan high-speed line which took place on August 18th, trains will be able to travel again according to schedule planned for high-speed connections.
RFI, Florence-Rome express line: what changes with the reopening?
I works managed by Rfi, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, a company of the FS group, mainly concerned the Galleria Blacksmith and the viaduct Straw, near Orvieto. Over 40 technicians from RFI and its contractors worked on the maintenance and upgrade of the infrastructure.
How travel times change
From today until August 29thAs required by law for infrastructure renewal, trains will initially travel on the renewed lines at a reduced speed, with travel times extended by up to 15 minutes. The speed, as stated in the note, will gradually be increased until reaching the maximum speed envisaged for the line starting from from August 30th. The trains have been uploaded to the railway companies' sales systems with the expected route changes.
