Enel Green Power North America, a subsidiary of Enel, has three wind farms connected to the grid, one of which, that of High Lonesome located in Upton and Crockett counties in Texas, has allowed the increase in the capacity of the largest wind farm in operation in the Group's global renewable portfolio to 500 MW. The other two connections concern the two 105 MW Riverview wind farms and Phase 2 of Castle Rock Ridge, 29,4 MW, located in Alberta, Canada.
"The grid connection of these three new wind farms is further proof that Enel is maintaining its commitment to grow the global renewable portfolio," said AAntonio Cammisecra, CEO of Enel Green Power. “This commitment was also highlighted, during the first quarter of the year, by the completion of plants powered by renewable sources for over 400 MW worldwide, which allowed the latter to largely exceed conventional generation in our portfolio in terms of capacity and production. By prioritizing health and safety, in the future we will continue to generate new sustainable value around the world thanks to our zero-emission energy, in line with the Group Strategic Plan”.
For high lonesome park, Enel Green Power North America has invested 720 million dollars. The plant will generate about 1,9 TWh per year, avoiding the emission of more than 1,2 million tons of CO2, and will be boosted by the additional 50 MW newly connected to the grid thanks to a 12-year renewable energy supply agreement (PPA).
The total investment on Phase 2 of Castle Rock Ridge and Riverview on the other hand, it exceeds 210 million Canadian dollars. The plants will supply the energy produced and the related renewable credits to the electricity system manager of the Province, Alberta Electric System Operator (“AESO”) on the basis of two 20-year agreements awarded in 2017 following a tender called by AESO .
