Paolo Grossi replaces Alessandro Criscuolo as president of the Constitutional Court.
Jurist and historian, Grossi was born in Florence on 29 January 1933. Behind him is a long career as a professor of the history of law and of canon law in numerous universities. He was appointed Constitutional Judge by the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano and sworn in on February 23, 2009.
The election of the fortieth president of the Consulta took place with 14 votes in favor and a blank ballot. At the same time, Giorgio Lattanzi was elected Deputy Vice-President, supported by two other Vice-Presidents: Aldo Carosi and Marta Cartabia.
