Consult the bank before leaving. Not all cards active in Italy can be used abroad. Some can be enabled, but with limitations. Therefore check with the institution that issued your card if it is accepted in the countries where you go on holiday.

Both are usually enabled to pay and withdraw cash even abroad, but the commissions applied for withdrawals vary considerably; for credit cards they are around 4% on average, for debit cards they are around 2%. For payments made directly at the commercial outlet there are no major differences between the two solutions: if the transaction takes place in one of the Sepa countries generally there are no commissions, while additional costs related to the exchange are possible, in case of use in areas with currencies other than the euro.
In case of theft, cloning or loss, call your bank immediately to block the card. As soon as it is informed, the institution will immediately deactivate it. If the stolen card is used before the theft is reported, amounts up to a maximum of 150 euros may be charged by law. Any money stolen after reporting, on the other hand, will be fully refunded.
