From 31 January 2023, 18-year-olds will be able to send applications for the culture bonus 2023 which allows those who came of age last year to obtain a contribution equal to 500 € to be spent on books, cinema, concerts, theatrical performances and in general to purchase goods and participate in cultural activities.
Culture bonus 2023: who can apply? The requirements
Young people can apply to receive the 2023 culture bonus born in 2004 and therefore come of age in 2022. There are only two requirements to be respected: be resident in Italy or be in possession of a valid residence permit.
Culture bonus 2023: what can you buy?
The 2023 culture bonus can be spent both on purchases in physical and online stores. What can you buy?
- tickets for cinemas, theatres, concerts, cultural events, museums, monuments and archaeological parks;
- music, books, subscriptions to newspapers and periodicals, also in digital format;
- courses in theatre, music and foreign languages.
Culture bonus 2023: dates to remember
The 500 euro bonus can be requested until October 31, 2023 and to spend it there will be time until 30 April 2024. Those born in 2003, who have therefore already requested the bonus, have until February 28, 2023 to spend the 500 euros.
Culture bonus 2023: how to apply?
To apply, 18-year-olds must register on the site 18app. To do this you need to authenticate on the site through the Speed, the Public Digital Identity System that gives access to the main online public services, or the electronic identity card. Once done, you will need to confirm the data displayed and accept the terms of use. You will then receive an email confirming the successful registration.
Culture bonus: how does it change from next year?
The budget law of the Meloni government has changed the culture bonus. Starting from 2024, by narrowing the audience of potential beneficiaries the 18app “will retire” and will be replaced by two new benefits: the Carta Cultura Giovani and the Carta del Merito, cumulative virtual cards worth 500 euros.
La Youth Culture Card it will be available to 18-year-olds belonging to families with an Isee income not exceeding 35 thousand euros. There Card of Merit, however, will be based on school progress and will go to students who manage to close the final exam with the highest marks. On balance, therefore, the audience of potential beneficiaries will be reduced, but otherwise everything will remain the same: you will need to be resident in Italy or in possession of a valid residence permit, you will be able to spend both online and in physical stores within a deadline and so saying.
