Retail sales in the euro area grew by 0,9% in June while recording a decrease of 0,4% on an annual basis. The data is communicated by Eurostat and exceeds the expectations of analysts who had foreseen a 0,5% economic increase and a trend decrease of 1%. The May figure was revised to -1,3% month-on-month and -2,3% year-over-year.
As regards the Europe of the 27, retail sales increased in June by 0,9% on a monthly basis and by 0,2% on an annual basis, a clear improvement compared to the May data (-1,3% on a month and -1,7% year on year).
