Aim Italia: IPOs doubled and booming growth in 2018

The number of listed companies has risen from 83 to 108 in one year, while capitalization has reached 7,7 billion euros and funding has risen to 4 billion - IR Top Consulting's analysis shows the development of AIM Italia . Today the debut of Sg Company

Aim Italia: IPOs doubled and booming growth in 2018

There are 108 companies listed on AIM Italia in July 2018. There were 83 in the same month of 2017. The turnover today amounts to 4,3 billion euros (3,9 in 2016), the capitalization is equal to 7,7 billion euros, while total deposits reach 4 billion: 3,5 billion deriving from IPOs, 558 million euros from the secondary market. Just today, Thursday 26 July, SG Company, a company operating in the world of integrated communication, makes its debut on the price list. During the placement phase, the SG Company raised 3 million, the free float at the time of admission was 13,04% with a capitalization of approximately 23 million.

The new data on the segment of the most innovative SMEs were collected by the Aim Italia Observatory developed by the internal Research Office of IR Top Consulting, Equity Markets Partner of Borsa Italiana – LSE Group presented in Milan. Data that bear witness to the growth of a market, that of SMEs, which over the last few years has reached Guinness-worthy percentages.

“The fundamentals for 2017 – explains Anna Lambiase, founder and CEO of IR Top Consulting – record revenue growth of +11% and EBITDA +28%. Today, the sketch of the listed SME has average revenues of 43 million euros and an EBITDA margin of 13%. Listing on AIM is an option worth considering for companies of an appropriate size that intend to invest in their further growth”.

An option to be evaluated even more if one takes into consideration that, from 1 January 2017, the date on which the PIR, Individual Savings Plans. The Ftse Aim Italia index grew by 25%, while the total value traded rose to 895 million euros from 295 million in 2016. T

A development that inevitably attracted the attention of institutional investors, whose number in July 2018 stood at 102 (of which 76% foreign) for a total investment of 720 million euro. However, the boom of the last year has not escaped even the companies which, above all in the first six months of the current year, have chosen the path of listing: in fact, in the first half of the current year there were 16 IPOs - which they add 3 admissions – compared to 7 last year.

Going into detail, the analysis by IR Top Consulting reveals that the new 2018-2017 IPOs “belong to the Finance (45%), Industry (23%), Services (10%) and Technology (6%) sectors. Companies in the finance sector have the highest inflows in the period July 2017-July 2018. For 2018 IPOs, average inflows (net of SPACs) amounted to Euro 10,6 million, up +37% compared to IPO inflows in July 2017”.

From a regional point of view, however, the most represented region on the Aim is Lombardy, with more than half of the companies present (52%) followed by Emilia Romagna (10%), Lazio (10%) and Veneto (8%). The other regions are Piedmont, Umbria, Friuli, Marche, Tuscany. The market also features 3 foreign companies, equal to 3% of the total.
