Acea at Maker Faire Rome 2022 to promote technological innovation and the circular economy

That participates, for the ninth consecutive year, in the “Maker Faire of Rome – The European Edition”, the event that promotes and tells the'technological innovation by connecting companies, schools, universities, research centers and innovators, allowing them to share knowledge and present their projects. The event has become a fixed appointment for the Roman multiutility. During the three days of the X edition, scheduled in Rome from 7 to 9 October at the Gazometro Ostiense, Acea will present the technological solutions which, applied to its infrastructures and industrial areas, support the development of the circular economy.

Acea SmartComp: mini-composting plant

Will attend theAcea SmartComp, a mini-composting plant equipped with sensor technology that transforms i waste wet in compost through an aerobic process which in about 90 days produces fertilizer ready for use. The widespread zero-km composting that the mini-plant promotes allows you to eliminate the emission of greenhouse gases due to the transport of waste, with consequent reduction of environmental impacts.

Acea's MIDA project

Acea also presents the MIDA project, developed in collaboration with the Italian startup Wesii for the monitoring of photovoltaic systems. It is an ultra-technological model of self-driving drones which, equipped with a thermal camera, can fly over the systems at a height of 25 metres, monitoring the integrity of the panels in real time and optimizing interventions and maintenance costs.

Visitors to the Acea space will then find the Pixies autonomous mobile robot, a startup that participated in the first edition of Zero, the CDP Cleantech accelerator that Acea supports as a Corporate Partner. The robot is able to autonomously navigate within large indoor and outdoor spaces, avoiding obstacles and collecting waste at the same time. The technology uses Deep Learning algorithms to recognize the different categories of waste and collect them separately. After cleaning, the robot is able to independently return to a smart bench that acts as a recharging point. If installed outdoors, the system is totally zero impact thanks to the use of solar panels.

Virtual reality

Acea will bring to the event an innovative application developed with Areti, a Group company that deals with the distribution of electricity in Rome, which reproduces with the techniques of virtual reality some of the operations carried out daily by the company's technicians with a view to extended training to train the new 4.0 technicians.
