Webuild: farewell to Simonpietro Salini, the entrepreneur who revolutionized the construction sector

Simonpietro Salini è dead in Rome atage of 92 years. In the 1960s, together with his brother Franco, he led the construction company founded by his father Pietro, transforming it into a point of reference for the construction sector.

Salini was much more than a builder; he was a visionary entrepreneur capable of transforming a family business into an international conglomerate. Under his leadership, the organization has grown and diversified, ranging from residential construction to complex infrastructure. This expansion laid the foundation for the birth of the modern group Webuild, born in 2014 from the merger of Salini and Impregilo. The son Pietro Salini, who took over the company in 2014, was confirmed as CEO of Webuild last April.

The memory of Webuild

The Webuild group remembers Salini with deep respect. “An architect and builder of great humanity and strategic vision, he was one of the interpreters of the Italian rebirth which marked the economic boom of the country in the 1956s, contributing to the creation of large infrastructures and buildings. Salini joined the family business in 1962, taking over its management. In XNUMX he started expanding his activities abroad, and two years later, upon his father's death, he took over the reins of the company and gave it a new direction: the world, starting with Africa, the continent which at that time offered the greatest opportunities for companies specializing in large infrastructure works. He has helped carry out major infrastructure works which over the years have contributed to changing the face of some African countries, from Ethiopia to Sierra Leone, from Ghana to Nigeria, from Algeria to Libya.

His commitment and dedication to the company, combined with the foresight of the entrepreneur – write the group – have started the transformation of a family business into a large industrial group. In recent years he has reduced his operational activity, remaining honorary president of Salini Costruttori and other companies in the group, and moving to the Siena countryside where he passionately collected Sienese medieval works of art."

For honor the memory by Simonpietro Salini, the Webuild Group has published a commemorative video, highlighting its outstanding contributions to the construction industry and its lasting impact on employees and communities around the world.
