Wall Street, Anthropic files IPO documents: OpenAi and Space X begin IPO war

Anthropic has confidentially filed its IPO prospectus and is aiming to beat rival OpenAi, which is also preparing for its IPO. Elon Musk is also in the mix with Space X's mega-IPO.

Wall Street, Anthropic files IPO documents: OpenAi and Space X begin IPO war

Officially starts the IPO war, with artificial intelligence heading straight for Wall Street. anthropic announced on Monday that it had confidentially submitted request for quotation to the Security Exchange Commission (SEC), the authority that supervises the US market, but without disclosing financial details, strategy and business plans to the public.

Dario and Daniela Amodei, founders of the company, therefore aim to beat OpenAi to the punch which in turn is preparing the documents to land on the stock exchange with the aim of reaching the listing as early as September 2026. But between the two litigants there is also a third wheel: it is Elon Musk's Space X, who after having seen his request rejected of compensation of 130 billion of dollars advanced against OpenAI, has no intention of giving discounts to its CEO Sam Altman, and is ready to land on the Nasdaq, aiming to obtain a valuation of 1800 trillion.

In a context of increasing competition between the most famous technology companies in Silicon Valley, according to the Financial Times these operations would be “three of the greatest stock market valuations of all time.”

Anthropic files for IPO

In a statement, Anthropic explained that it had presented “in a confidential manner” to the Securities and Exchange Commission “a draft registration statement on Form S-1” which “permits us to go public after the SEC completes its review. “Confidential” means that at this time no details are known official information on the structure of the offering nor the current financial figures of Anthropic, although some hypothesize annual revenues of $50 billion for the company that developed the chatbot Claude, the main rival of ChatGpt created by OpenAi.

“The initial public offering proposal will depend on the market conditions and other factors,” Anthropic wrote in the statement, also specifying that “the number of shares to be offered and the price have not been fixed.”

Towards a trillion dollar valuation

Of course, the calculations have already begun. Just over a year ago, in March 2025, Anthropic raised $3,5 billion at a valuation of $60 billion. The latest round of funding, dated May 2026, yielded $1.5 billion. 65 billion dollars, For a evaluation of 965 billions of dollars, higher than that of its rival OpenAI, equal to 853 billion. Given these numbers, it is difficult not to think that already at the starting line, Anthropic is aiming to surpass the trillion dollars of initial capitalization.

Open AI and Space X

What is certain is that the coming period could be unique for the American stock market. After all, these are companies desperate for capital to continue developing their technology, and a listing on Wall Street or the Nasdaq will allow them to attract a volume of investment they would otherwise struggle to secure by continuing to announce deals and counter-deals with other tech companies.

As pointed out by FIRST online, between space economy and artificial intelligence, 2026 could see a concentration of billion-dollar listings capable of redrawing the balance of global markets. Some estimates speak of an overall pipeline that, between SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic, could get closer to the 200 billion dollars raised, surpassing the sum of the major US IPOs from 2022 onwards. Analysts interpret this scenario as a change of phase for the markets: fewer IPOs, but larger, more concentrated and dominated by a few global technology players. And The Nasdaq is poised to be the main beneficiary of this trend, both in terms of capital raised and trading volumes.
