Visco: "Too many companies flee from challenges, an exceptional effort is needed"

The Governor of Bank of Italy to businesses: “However, too few have fully accepted this challenge; sometimes we prefer, illusory, to invoke public support as a solution”.

Visco: "Too many companies flee from challenges, an exceptional effort is needed"

There are few Italian companies that have fully accepted the challenges of modernization. Too many others have chosen instead to "falsely invoke public support". This is the rebuke that came today from the governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco.

“Companies are called to make an exceptional effort to guarantee the success of the transformation – said Visco in the Final Considerations at the Bank of Italy meeting – by investing their own resources, opening up to growth opportunities, adapting the corporate structure and organizational models, focusing on innovation, on the ability to be present on the most dynamic markets. They have shown that they know how to do it at other times in our history. Some are doing it. However, too few have fully accepted this challenge; sometimes we prefer, illusory, to invoke public support as a solution”.

Giorgio Squinzi, number one of Confindustria, responded trying to send a signal of confidence: "We are here - he said -, we will continue to be there and we will do our best".
