Twitter: Musk leaves driving and announces the arrival of a woman. Linda Yaccarino likely new CEO

Elon Musk announced in a tweet last night the intention to step down as CEO di Twitter and that it has found that it has found a new CEO who will lead the social network. His substitute will be a woman, whose name has not been disclosed, who will enter in charge in about 6 weeks.

Musk then specified that will retain the role of executive chairman need Chief Technology Officer, a more technical role focused on product oversight, software and systems management.

The announcement was long overdue. It was Musk himself who declared it a few months after theacquisition of Twitter that he would leave the role of CEO, retaining only ownership.

In the USA the hunt for the name begins, for the WSJ it is Linda Yaccarino of NBCUniversal

I'm still holding back on the name. Musk only hinted from her announcement that she will be a woman and thus the hunt for the name began in the United States. According to some sources of the Wall Street Journal, Linda Yaccarino, head of advertising of NBCUniversal, would be in negotiations to assume the role of CEO of Twitter. Yaccarino would have been trying to get her position for some time and would also have confided it to sources close to her. Yaccarino has been president of global advertising and partnerships at NBCU for 10 years. Among his merits was the launch of the Peacock streaming service, a US video on demand streaming service.

Other names that are circulating are that of Sheryl Sandberg, former chief operating officer of Meta, and Sarah Friar, CEO of Nextdoor but nothing is certain. Yaccarino remains the number one favourite.

While waiting for the new name, the first to celebrate are Tesla shareholders who have been asking Musk for some time to take a step back and leave the role of CEO.

Incoming audio and calls on twitter

Musk, meanwhile, has launched a new move to compete with other social platforms by announcing the arrival of audio and video calls on Twitter.

“Voice and video chat from your username to anyone on this platform will soon be available, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without having to give them your phone number,” Musk tweeted.

Another step in the tycoon's vision to make to make Twitter a superapp with different services such as payments, e-commerce, video games, chats, allow investments, read the news and much more.
