Trump fires Security Adviser

Sensational dismissal of Trump's Security Adviser, accused of intriguing with the Russians before the presidential elections and of lying - Flynn was the one who asked for prison for Clinton: now he risks it - Trump fired him on the spot.

Trump fires Security Adviser

White House National Security Advisor, retired General Michael Flynn, has left his post. CNN reports it, citing informed sources. Formally it is a question of resignation, but in reality the soldier was dismissed outright just 20 days after his appointment.

Over Christmas 2016, Flynn phoned the Russian ambassador in Washington seven times to reassure Putin about the sanctions, having no authority to do so, but out of clear gratitude for the help provided by Kremlin hackers. Flynn was also one of Trump's supporters who asked for prison for Clinton: now he risks it.

For now, US President Donald Trump has appointed Joseph Keith Kellogg Jr as interim national security adviser to replace him.

But the name of David Petraeus is already mentioned among those under consideration by the administration to permanently occupy the seat vacated by Flynn. According to CNN, Petraeus will meet Trump at the White House in the next few hours.
