Savers cheated by banks: time until April for compensation

Countdown for the requests to be presented to the Fund created at the Ministry of Finance for the purpose of indemnifying savers damaged by the incorrect behavior of the banks placed in compulsory liquidation from 2015 to 2018. The requests for compensation must be presented to the FIR (Savers Compensation Fund) electronically by 18 April 2020, the deadline after the extension decided by the 2020 Budget Law.

We remind you that lump-sum compensation, equal to 30% of the purchase price of the shares and 95% of the purchase price of the subordinated bonds within the limit of 100.000 euros will be granted to savers, natural persons, individual entrepreneurs, including farmers or direct farmers, voluntary organisations, social promotion associations and micro-enterprises which suffered damage in the context of the liquidations of Banca Popolare di Vicenza, Veneto Banca, Banca delle Marche, Banca Etruria, Cariferrara and Carichieti.

In this context Consultique, a financial consultancy company, has created a special service to assist savers who wish to access the FIR in view of the imminent expiry of the terms. It is true that, precisely to deal with the complexities in submitting applications, the Fir has provided for a call center, both telephone and telematic, which has the task of facilitating the flow of reimbursement applications, especially in the most complicated cases. However, the call center number is not visible on the homepage and the site does not allow you to proceed without accepting the use of cookies.

The issue of compensation is more topical than ever given the new crisis which this time involves Banca Popolare di Bari. In this case, the Minister of the Economy, Roberto Gualtieri, called for the launch of "incentives" for the Interbank Fund for the protection of deposits (Fitd) in favor of the shareholders of Banca Popolare di Bari, as part of a recovery and relaunch process that must pass through a transformation into a joint stock company which, inevitably, will have "significant effects" precisely on the value of their securities.
