The Cariplo Foundation and the CDP Foundation announced today the start of the second edition of a tender dedicated to scientific excellence, making new resources available for a total of 1,8 million euro. The objective of this joint initiative is to support and promote the national research system, funding innovative projects in several scientific areas, including life sciences, physical and engineering sciences, and humanities and social sciences.
Budget of 1,8 million: who is it for?
The call is aimed at Italian researchers who have passed the second phase of competition evaluation Starting Grants and Consolidator Grants 2022, organized by the European Research Council (ERC), the European body that supports frontier research. 12 projects will be selected, each of which will receive a maximum funding of 150.000 euros.
The winning researchers of the call will have the opportunity to consolidate their skills and strengthen their research thanks to the resources provided by the two foundations. This support will allow them to prepare for future initiatives promoted by theERC, such as experiences abroad, expansion of research groups and scientific publications.
Second edition of the tender: objectives and results
Fondazione Cariplo and Fondazione CDP confirm their commitment to promoting the independence and scientific maturity of young Italian talents. With this second edition of the call, the two foundations strengthen their commitment to promote scientific excellenceby investing in human capital.
"Supporting Italian research is a fundamental imperative to allow our country to face the challenges of our time, such as climate change and health protection", declared the President of the CDP Foundation, Giovanni Gorno Tempini. "At the same time, it is necessary to promote a virtuous circle which favors the development of skills and the growth of our human capital, which has always excelled in this area".
The President of the Cariplo Foundation, John Azzone, underlined the importance of this initiative in the field of research. Fondazione Cariplo allocates an average of over 10 million euros each year to various research activities, including support for the careers of young researchers, data science, the circular economy and research on rare diseases. The collaboration with the CDP Foundation aims to help Italian researchers to enter the international context, bringing skills with them and acquiring new ones, to the benefit of the whole system.
